Release Manager

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Release Manager to take ownership of our software release process. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, innovative environment where you'll coordinate and manage releases across multiple products, services, and platforms-ensuring smooth, reliable, and timely delivery of high-quality software to clients.

You'll work closely with Software Development, QA, Product, and Delivery teams, acting as the central point of control for release planning, scheduling, and communication. This role sits within the Quality Assurance function and reports to the Head of QA.

The position is primarily office-based, with flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end release process for backend systems and frontend applications, including planning, coordination, deployment, communication, and post-release support.
• Maintain the release calendar and ensure alignment with business priorities and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Delivery, Client Success, and Support teams to manage dependencies, risks, and quality gates.
• Prepare and maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment plans, and rollback strategies.
• Serve as the primary communication point for release progress, risks, and timelines, providing regular updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Provide reporting on release metrics, status, and risks.
• Lead post-release reviews and drive continuous improvement in release processes, efficiency, and quality.

Essential Experience & Skills

• 4+ years in a Release Manager, DevOps, or similar coordination role within a software organisation.
• Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle (Agile, Scrum).
• Experience coordinating releases across APIs, web, mobile, and cloud-based platforms.
• Excellent planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, well-organised, and able to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desired Experience & Skills

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
• Experience with Jira for release management and tracking.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience within a SaaS environment.
• Understanding of video technologies (e.g., transcoding, encoding, ad insertion, metadata manipulation).
