About the Role

As our Reinsurance Contracts Counsel in Munich, you'll work with our team to handle reinsurance business across the EMEA region. You'll draft and review contract wordings, provide legal advice on reinsurance matters, and participate in client engagements to understand how reinsurance agreements are negotiated and finalised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build legal expertise in the creation of reinsurance contracts with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Review and analyse reinsurance contracts and related documents to ensure alignment with business intent and corporate requirements
  • Learn compliance frameworks to align contracts with applicable laws, regulations, and internal requirements
  • Support development of corporate policies on contract-related matters
  • Participate in negotiations alongside experienced team members, gaining exposure to discussions with internal partners, external clients, and brokers
  • Contribute to innovation by supporting AI-driven enhancements of contract management IT infrastructure and tools
  • Create training materials and support training delivery
  • Apply governance standards to contract wordings and processes

About the Team

Our team specialises in supporting reinsurance business throughout the EMEA region. We work collaboratively to draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance contract wordings that protect our company's interests while meeting client needs. We pride ourselves on our legal expertise, business acumen, and ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical solutions that drive our business forward.

About You

You are passionate about legal matters and able to translate complex legal language into clear, precise, and accessible business context. A team player at the beginning of your career, you bring enthusiasm for learning and growing within the reinsurance sector. You have a collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, and solid analytical skills. Your communication abilities enable you to work effectively with colleagues and progressively build confidence in client interactions. You're eager to learn, adaptable, and take ownership of your development.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • University degree in law (additional legal qualifications are a plus)
  • More than 2 years experiences with basic understanding of insurance or reinsurance concepts (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in English and German (verbal and written)
  • Agile, pragmatic and can-do attitude

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with contract review or drafting
  • Interest in digital tools and data analytics
  • Previous knowledge about P&C products and local re/insurance markets

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 68.000 and EUR 113.000 for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
