About Our Client

Our client is a reputable financial services business within the automotive sector. They operate in a professional and collaborative environment, focusing on delivering excellent services to their clients and stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Provide advice in response to consumer credit/regulatory queries from the business as they arise.
  • Proactively identify potential consumer credit and compliance risks and issues and advise the business on how to deal with them.
  • Where necessary, draft instructions to external lawyers to advise on consumer credit and regulatory matters.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the business in respect of the regulated product lifecycle including product development, distribution/sales channel, customer documentation and customer journey.
  • In collaboration with the relevant business areas, ensure all regulated agreements and associated documentation, processes, communications and financial promotions are compliant with consumer credit law and FCA regulation.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the business in respect of relationships with intermediaries (brokers, dealers and partners)
  • Provide input on regulatory aspects of commercial agreements at the request of the Legal Team.
  • Support and advise the Complaints team and Legal team in respect of customer complaints and claims where required.
  • Ensure any changes in legislation or FCA rules relating to consumer credit and hire agreements are fed into the Legal and Regulator Watch process and support the relevant business areas to implement the changes.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel should have:

  • UK/IRE Qualified with a minimum of 2 years PQE
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of consumer credit law and relevant FCA regulation (CONC etc)
  • Good communication skills i.e. face to face, telephone, e-mail, report writing
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Good time management & organisation
  • Effective when working under pressure
  • High levels of professionalism and stakeholder management
