We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to join our Food and Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to help protect the health and wellbeing of residents, visitors, and businesses across the borough by supporting the delivery of high quality regulatory services.
As a key member of the team, you will contribute to ensuring safe, fair and compliant business practices by providing advice, assisting with inspections, and supporting enforcement activities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about public protection and keen to develop a career within regulatory services.
What You'll Be Doing- Carrying out interventions at lower risk food business premises to check compliance with relevant food safety legislation.
- Assisting with inspections, sampling, and wider regulatory activities as part of the Food and Safety Team.
- Responding, under supervision, to low level or straightforward complaints and service requests involving commercial or domestic premises.
- Identifying any unfair practices or breaches of legislation and supporting the team in taking appropriate remedial actions.
- Providing support to colleagues in relation to enforcement activities across a range of regulatory legislation.
- Contributing to the implementation of the service's duties, responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and keen to learn. You'll be,
- Educated to A-level standard or holding equivalent Level 3 qualification
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment
- Experience of working in a food establishment, understanding how food establishments operate, and the procedures required to ensure regulatory compliance
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Able to communicate clearly and provide excellent customer service
Experience in regulatory services or environmental health is helpful but not essential - what matters most is your commitment, problem solving ability, and willingness to develop your skills. This post is designated as an essential car user, therefore you must be able to drive, have a valid driving licence and have a suitable vehicle available, however for disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required
