Overview

Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Surgeon seeking a fulfilling career opportunity? Sanctuary Personnel is excited to present a permanent Registered Veterinary Surgeon position with one of the UK's largest veterinary retailers based in Maldon.

Summary

You will be joining a team that consists of five experienced and approachable Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), one student RVN, two Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs), five receptionists, and 2.5 veterinary surgeons, including a Year 2 graduate.

We collaborate closely with a visiting small animal surgery certificate holder, who specialises in areas such as orthopaedics, allowing us to manage a wide variety of cases in-house. We encourage clinical independence within your caseload and foster a supportive, team-oriented environment. Regular clinical meetings and in-house Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions ensure we maintain high standards of care and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care and management of a wide variety of cases in-house, with clinical independence within your caseload.
  • Collaborate with a team including RVNs, VCAs, receptionists, and other veterinary surgeons, and participate in regular clinical meetings and in-house CPD sessions.
  • Work with visiting specialists in orthopaedics to support patient care.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised university
  • Membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Previous experience as a veterinary surgeon is highly desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary best practices and medical regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with clients and their pets
  • Ability to handle a variety of animals safely and effectively
  • Willingness to continually upgrade knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine

  • Attractive salary (dependent on experience/full-time equivalent)
  • 224 hours annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays, based on a 40-hour week). Increasing to 264 hours after 2 years' service
