Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse - Pediatric Department to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA.

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.
  • Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled for 8.5 or 9 hours.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience in a pediatric clinical setting.
  • Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Board Certification preferred.
  • Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted RN license as required by the TO.

Job Summary:

  • Provide tailored education to pediatric patients and families about clinical findings, medication use, wound care, community resources, medical equipment, and patient responsibilities, tailored to individual needs. Assist with check-in and check-out processes.
  • Educate patients and families about lab tests, medications, procedures, and health promotion based on the physician's plan of care.
  • Promote health maintenance and preventive initiatives for pediatric patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and community services for patient care needs, including referrals to social services, health benefits, and case management.
  • Use the nursing process to assess patient needs and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective care and education.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and educational materials in the clinic.
  • Assist healthcare providers with procedures, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and reassess as needed.
  • Respond to referrals and requests for continued care following discharge.
  • Document nursing interventions accurately in patient charts and manage ambulatory care workload.
  • Monitor patient flow alongside LPNs and corpsmen under supervision of the division officer or clinic manager.
