Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse - Pediatric Department to join our team of talented professionals providing healthcare services to Military Service Members and their families at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth VA.
- Employment Status: Full Time
- Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.
- Schedule: Shifts will normally be scheduled for 8.5 or 9 hours.

Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience in a pediatric clinical setting.
- Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Board Certification preferred.
- Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted RN license as required by the TO.
Job Summary:
- Provide tailored education to pediatric patients and families about clinical findings, medication use, wound care, community resources, medical equipment, and patient responsibilities, tailored to individual needs. Assist with check-in and check-out processes.
- Educate patients and families about lab tests, medications, procedures, and health promotion based on the physician's plan of care.
- Promote health maintenance and preventive initiatives for pediatric patients in an outpatient setting.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and community services for patient care needs, including referrals to social services, health benefits, and case management.
- Use the nursing process to assess patient needs and collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective care and education.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and educational materials in the clinic.
- Assist healthcare providers with procedures, monitor patients for adverse reactions, and reassess as needed.
- Respond to referrals and requests for continued care following discharge.
- Document nursing interventions accurately in patient charts and manage ambulatory care workload.
- Monitor patient flow alongside LPNs and corpsmen under supervision of the division officer or clinic manager.
