Registered Nurse - Strathmore Dialysis Unit

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Strathmore Renal Unit was opened in 2025 as an extension of the services provided by the Renal Department enabling renal patients living in Hertfordshire to have their treatment closer to their hometown.

The Strathmore Renal Unit is providing an environment with state of the art IT systems and equipment. Post holders will be trained in the delivery of high quality patient care in a dialysis setting.

We have a dedicated education team to support you with your professional development. You can take part in masterclasses, e-learning modules, action learning and clinical competency assessments.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the care of patients undergoing dialysis, assessing individual patient care needs.

Develop, implement and evaluate plans of care for a group of patients dialyzing at an in centre or at our satellite units in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines.

In the absence of senior staff, taking responsibility for the delegation and supervision of appropriate work to other qualified staff, healthcare support workers and students. To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and participate in the haemodialysis on call rota.

Person Specification Qualifications/Training
  • Registered Nurse on part 1, part 2 or part 12 of the NMC register
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Evidence of further education, training and ongoing learning
  • Ability to produce updated personal professional portfolio
  • Evidence of Assessing and Mentorship qualification
  • Evidence of appropriate Specialist Qualification
Previous Experience
  • Experience as qualified hemodialysis nurse
  • Experience of mentoring junior/unqualified staff
Skills
  • Evidence of good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work within multi-disciplinary team
  • Good self awareness of professional limitation within NMC Code of Conduct
  • Ability to prioritise workload and demonstrate good organisational skills
  • Venipuncture and cannulation
