Job Description
Main Duties of the Job

As a valued staff member you can expect to receive a comprehensive induction into the Trust and to the team, a structured 6 month preceptorship programme will be provided if required and a bespoke training passport has been developed for all PICU staff.

Staff wellbeing and support is very important to us and we have various embedded systems in place to promote this, including regular clinical and managerial supervision, weekly reflective practice, team discussions after all shifts and 6 monthly team away days.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of specialist care utilizing formal assessments.
  • Deliver diversional activities for patients.
  • Manage medication including dosing and monitoring.
  • Implement trauma informed care and receive training in psychological interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to plan and deliver patient care.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Person Specification Experience
  • Willingness to undertake and complete preceptorship; facilitating the transition for newly qualified nurses and core competency development programme.
  • Appropriate knowledge and experience of working in a mental health setting.
  • Evidence of specialist practice skills and ability to demonstrate the impact on practice change/development.
Qualifications & Knowledge
  • Part III or 13 of NMC live register.
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation and their application to clinical and service area.
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical and service area.
Skills and Competencies
  • Evidence of good time management skills.
  • Work within the culture of improving working lives and working time directive.
  • Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
