About this jobRegistered Nurse - Permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, with opportunities on the regional Head and Neck Unit in Liverpool. The ward is a surgical area dealing with many different types of head and neck patients. Patients undergo different surgeries including major oncology, restorative, dental and minor procedures. The unit provides care to patients and families, managing complex nursing needs. The unit also treats trauma and non-oncology patients with varied problems.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic nurse to join our team who wishes to develop new skills or build on existing ones. The unit will provide challenging nursing demands to help see patients through from admission to discharge. Support will be provided from the multidisciplinary team to utilise the skills you can offer. Education and training will be provided. This is a challenging but rewarding nursing role; you must be a registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include:
- Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment and uphold nursing care standards.
- Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care.
- Inform the nurse in charge when changes in circumstances may affect patient care.
- Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC and Trust Guidelines.
- Contribute to quality improvement and clinical benchmarking within the unit.
- Respect customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients.
- Provide information and support to patients and carers, and ensure all involved are aware of changes in the patient's condition.
- Assist in the safe custody, checking and administration of drugs.
- Develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via planned and unplanned routes.
- Undertake expanded practice, under supervision, to optimise patient care in line with ward/department and Trust policies.
- Involve patients and carers in planning and delivering care.
- Ensure effective communication within the ward/department multidisciplinary team.
