Registered Nurse - Endoscopy (Band 5, 12 month fixed term, maternity coverage)

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (including weekends, bank holidays, evenings and on call). Location: Lister Hospital (Stevenage) and QEII Hospital (Welwyn). Salary: £31,049 - £37,796 per annum (Yearly). Closing date: 05/05/2026.

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Endoscopy who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care to our patients.

The post holder will work as part of a nursing and multi disciplinary team delivering evidence based care, supporting patients, relatives and carers through endoscopic procedures, coordinating the daily endoscopy list, efficiently managing sessions and supervising junior staff. The role includes participation in a 24/7 on call service covering bank holidays and weekends.

Main responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the nursing and multi disciplinary team in providing high standard evidence based care.
• Provide care, support and advice for patients, relatives and carers undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Coordinate the daily endoscopy list with the Endoscopy Coordinator, planning and managing sessions efficiently.
• Take charge of sessions in the endoscopy unit.
• Support and supervise junior/non registered staff and students, developing their knowledge and competencies in line with the JETS Endoscopy profile.

Qualifications / Training

• Registered Nursing qualification on the NMC register.
• GCSE Grade A C in Maths & English or equivalent skills level 2 Maths & English.
• Commitment to lifelong learning.

Previous Experience

• Experience working within an MDT team.
• Experience providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
• Practice assessor qualification or equivalent.
• Previous endoscopy experience or involvement with gastroenterology patients.

Skills

• Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
• Commitment to development in the endoscopy role and lifelong learning.
• Technically minded.

Knowledge

• Endoscopy / gastroenterology knowledge.
• Principles of infection control and health and safety.
• Experience of audit in the clinical area.
• Awareness of health promotion.
