Job Description
Registered Nurse - Community and Hospice Line

We're looking for two calm, compassionate registered nurses with excellent communication skills to join our community nursing and hospice line team - a collaborative telephone support service for people approaching the end of life and their families.

Main duties of the job
  • Emotional support for anxious or distressed families
  • Coordinating community responses
  • Recording changes in condition
  • Taking calls when a death has occurred
  • Visiting a patient in their own home, carrying out initial assessments and follow up reviews

For Hospices Line - an innovative collaboration between St Wilfrids and St Michaels hospices - you will use strong listening skills, structured questioning and clear documentation to ensure callers receive safe, compassionate support.

St Wilfrids Hospice provides end of life support to the population of Eastbourne and the surrounding parts of East Sussex, from our stunning hospice building and through our highly skilled community teams. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Recent experience in a healthcare setting
  • Able to make safe decisions and escalate appropriately
  • Comfortable working independently in a community setting
  • Reliable, resilient and confident using electronic systems
  • Willing to attend daytime training and work flexibly
