Registered General Nurse

Job Purpose

To achieve the highest possible standard of care in a professional manner through direct nursing care and effective supervision of Staff Members. To take management responsibility for a shift as directed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide person centered nursing to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards.

2. Carry out evidence based practice.

3. Ensure that Clients' Care Plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with Clients.

4. Health Care Professionals, and in accordance with NMC guidelines & policies.

5. Assess all aspects of Clients' care needs, and provide health supervision and direct Nursing care.

6. Assess social and health care needs of new Clients, and maintain on-going assessment and review when necessary.

7. Maintain accurate records for each Client Care Plan in accordance with NMC guidelines.

8. Ensure effective communication is maintained with the multidisciplinary team and community services.

9. Administer prescribed medicines and document the same in accordance with the policies and NMC guidelines.

10. Practice maximum integrity and confidentiality in all dealings with clients.

11. Report immediately to the Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious.

12. Nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.

13. Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.

14. Adhere to all appropriate NMC guidelines / regulations.

15. Ensure personal accountability in accordance with the NMC code of practice.

16. Demonstrate commitment through attendance and efficient completion of duties.
