Recovery Worker

Overview

We are recruiting two roles to support individuals experiencing homelessness in accessing treatment for drug and alcohol needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Hostels Recovery Worker: Outreach in community and in reach into hostels, build relationships, reduce barriers, maintain regular contact, offer advice, conduct assessments, risk planning, work with multidisciplinary team, and partake in community outreach activities.
• Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker: Deliver assertive outreach, conduct assessments, provide key working sessions, support clients to access treatment, and identify and respond to drug and alcohol needs through goal setting and planning.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Understanding of the challenges experienced by people with a dual diagnosis (mental health/drug and alcohol use).
• Recovery oriented, person centred, non judgemental approach.
• Calm, consistent support during mental health crises.
• Experience working towards individual and team objectives.
• Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Confident and effective communicator; a good listener.
• Understanding of professional boundaries with vulnerable people.
• Collaborative team working skills.
• Adaptable to challenging and changeable environments.
• Proven track record managing behavioural challenges.
