Job Description

Join our team as a Recovery Worker in Redcar & Cleveland.

WithYou in Redcar and Cleveland is a free and confidential service for people affected by drugs and alcohol. The service is part of the THRIVE partnership, an integrated substance use, domestic abuse and education/recovery support service.

Main duties of the job

As a Recovery Worker you will be providing support and advice to people who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse and domestic abuse. You will have the opportunity to complete training in both areas, and strengthen your knowledge of these key strands of our service. You will have your own caseload, working as part of our team and alongside other social care services to identify how we can help. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be.

You will work as part of a team with the aims of:

  • keeping them safe
  • creating a plan they can achieve with your support
  • checking in with them and reviewing progress
  • keeping accurate and timely records of your contact
  • working effectively with other social care providers e.g. Housing, to cover all aspects of their successful recovery
  • continuously learning and reflecting to improve outcomes for your clients
  • supporting your colleagues across the service to deliver excellent care

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.

As a Recovery Worker, we offer a starting salary of £25,000, rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,000 per year.

Person Specification Experience
  • Compassionate and motivated individual with exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships; experience working within the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting, or a clear motivation for wanting to work in the drug and alcohol sector; successful track record of providing efficient and reliable customer service.
  • Highly organised, excellent communication skills, able to manage time effectively; collaborative team player ensuring high quality service; passion for what we do and a positive and engaging approach to clients and stakeholders.
  • Attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or willing to achieve within 12 months.
  • Demonstrable experience of working or volunteering in health, social care, criminal justice, or other specialist setting.
  • Successful track record of working or volunteering with people who have experienced substance misuse issues.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Able to support others when needed and work effectively in a team.
  • Resilient under pressure and able to prioritise work.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • IT competent.
  • Flexible with working hours on occasion.
