Reception Supervisor

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused support within a busy practice environment. The postholder will work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure efficient day-to-day operations, providing a professional and responsive service while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and excellent standards of care.
Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities- Organising and managing rotas to ensure consistent cover and smooth daily operations
- Holding regular one-to-one meetings with reception colleagues to provide support, guidance, and encouragement
- Maintaining up-to-date training records and supporting ongoing professional development for the team
- Monitoring incoming calls and providing coaching to ensure excellent patient communication
- Managing incoming correspondence, including emails and tasks, efficiently and accurately
- Opening and closing the practice, maintaining safety and security in line with practice protocols
- Booking appointments for clinical staff according to practice policy, and assisting patients with their requests both in person and by phone
- Responding to patient enquiries and liaising with other team members or healthcare providers in a friendly and professional manner
- Keeping the reception area, notice boards, and leaflet displays tidy, welcoming, and clutter-free
- Attend and contribute to team / practice meetings as appropriate
- Assist interviewing new reception applicants
- Any duties reasonably requested of you
Monday - 8:00 - 18:00
Tuesday - Day Off
Wednesday - 8:00 - 16:30
Thursday - 8:00 - 18:00
Friday - 8:00 - 18:00
With the flexibility to cover annual leave, sickness and extended hours as required

Job responsibilitiesAs a valued member of our reception team, you'll play a key role in keeping our practice running smoothly and ensuring every patient has a positive experience. Your responsibilities may include any of the following, with flexibility depending on practice needs and guidance from the Deputy Practice Manager or Practice Manager:

- Experience of working in reception
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong IT skills
- Experience of working with the general public
- Ability to work under pressure
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- EMIS trained
