We invite former Officers of the Defence Forces to explore re-joining as a Commissioned Officer. Your leadership, strategic experience and professional standards are highly valued and we are keen to welcome back qualified leaders who can contribute to robust, mission-focused operations and play a vital role in protecting the State. As a Commissioned Officer, you will take on challenging responsibilities, develop exceptional leadership skills and contribute to national and global security with pride and purpose.

What to expect for former Officer Applicants:

• Formal recognition of your previous officer qualification, rank and leadership experience.
• A range of command and staff opportunities across units and formations, aligned with current Defence Forces requirements.

Eligibility Requirements:

• You have a minimum potential service of at least three (3) years to serve to normal retiring age for the rank.
• You must be at least 5ft 2in (157.48cm) tall. Height will be measured during the selection process. No tattoos are to be visible above the collar while serving in the Defence Forces. This will be checked during the selection process and you may not proceed if you have visible tattoos above your collar.
• Applicants must meet the working permit eligibility criteria to serve as part of the Defence Forces. i.e. You must have a minimum of 5 years' eligibility to stay in Ireland. You will be requested to provide proof of working permit on your application.
• Must meet medical, physical and security clearance standards which will be assessed during the recruitment process.
