Job Description

The Ramadan Project Manager at Islamic Society of Boston is responsible for coordinating and executing the operational components of ISB's Ramadan activities at both Roxbury and Cambridge locations. This role focuses on day to day project planning, logistics, timelines, and stakeholder coordination to ensure Ramadan programs run smoothly and efficiently. The Project Manager will work closely with staff, leadership, volunteers, and community partners to deliver a spiritually enriching and well organized Ramadan experience.

This is a part time, temporary seasonal position requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week in the weeks leading up to Ramadan, and 30-35 hours per week during Ramadan through up to one week after Eid ul Fitr. The hourly rate ranges from $25-$32, commensurate with experience.

  • Coordinate Ramadan programs and activities including Taraweeh prayers, community iftars, and itikaf registration.
  • Manage the community iftar program in partnership with the Office Manager, including preparing marketing and communications materials for community iftar sponsorships and coordinating restaurant partnerships for iftar meal ordering.
  • Develop project plans and timelines for all Ramadan initiatives and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Partner with staff and leadership to align program logistics with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Prepare signage, email and digital screen announcements, and social media content or Ramadan in collaboration with staff.
  • Schedule volunteers for meal distribution and provide clear task instructions and coordination to ensure smooth operations throughout Ramadan in partnership with Senior Leadership.
  • Support Eid event planning including prayer schedules, festival logistics, volunteer coordination, and post event reporting.
  • Oversee daily Ramadan operations and escalate issues to the relevant Managers as needed
  • Track inventory of Ramadan supplies and ensure timely replenishment
  • Provide regular updates to staff and leadership on program status during Weekly update meetings
  • Route and respond (when possible) to community inquiries related to iftars, sponsorships, donations, taraweeh schedules, etc.
  • Document processes and recommendations for future Ramadan planning
  • Support the execution of the Annual Fundraising Dinner/Iftar including speaker coordination, sponsorship tracking, attendee registration, event logistics, and volunteer support.
  • Support vendor coordination including food orders, deliveries, and reconciliation between orders and distribution at both locations.
  • Design and prepare fundraising night content, powerpoint slides, and any distribution materials/signages, etc., for the iftar attendees.
Budget & Tracking
  • Monitor the Ramadan project budget including expense tracking and invoice submission
  • Maintain accurate records for food distribution, vendor payments, and sponsorship commitments
Qualifications
  • project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating community events or large scale projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with comfort working alongside staff, leadership, volunteers, and community members.
  • Ability to manage vendors, budgets, and logistics in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during Ramadan, with flexibility for high traffic nights.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit operations or faith based organizations is a plus.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, ) to track tasks and deadlines.
  • Calm and organized under pressure.
  • Comfort working with diverse community members, volunteers, and stakeholders.
