Radiology Porter

Our Radiology Porters provide an invaluable service transporting patients on beds, trolleys and wheelchairs around the hospital site. They are also involved with a wide range of other duties including moving furniture, delivering supplies, delivering specimens to the laboratories and changing medical gases such as oxygen cylinders.
We are currently hiring a part time (22.5 hours) Radiology Porter for the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) in a busy Radiology department.
To succeed in this role you will need to be well presented, have excellent communication skills, be flexible and adaptable, and demonstrate a genuinely caring approach to others. Radiology Porters work a variety of early and late shifts including some weekends. Saturday and Bank Holiday work attracts a 50% enhancement in addition to basic salary.

Welsh language skills are desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Responsibilities- Transport patients on beds, trolleys and wheelchairs around the hospital site.
- Move furniture and equipment within the hospital.
- Deliver supplies, specimens and medical gases (e.g., oxygen cylinders) to appropriate departments.
- Assist patients with clinical processes and support other healthcare staff as required.
- Maintain hygiene and infection control standards while transporting patients.
- Work flexibility across early and late shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Numeracy and literacy skills; formal educational qualifications.
- NVQ in Customer Service (or equivalent).
- Previous experience of working with the general public.
- Experience of portering in a hospital or NHS setting.
- Ability to work unsociable hours and bank holidays.
- Polite, courteous and friendly demeanour.
- Good telephone manner and basic computer/keyboard skills.
- Leadership or teamwork skills.
- Good communicator, approachable and team oriented.
- Flexible, motivated and able to encourage others.
