Quantitative Researcher - 2027 Summer Internship

Our goals are to give you a real sense of whatit's like to work as a Quantitative Researcherat Jane Street while also providing a trulyunparalleled educational experience. You'llwork side by side with our experiencedQuantitative Researchers to learn how we identifymarket signals, analyse large datasets, build andtest models, and create new tradingstrategies.

At Jane Street, the lines between research,technology, and trading are intentionally blurry,and you'll have access to petabytes of data, acomputing cluster with hundreds of thousands ofcores, and a growing GPU cluster containing tensof thousands of high-end GPUs. We don't believe in"one-size-fits-all" modelling solutions; we areopen to and excited about applying all differenttypes of statistical and ML techniques, fromlinear models to deep learning, depending on whatbest fits a given problem.

You'll spend the bulk of your internshipworking closely with full-time researchers onprojects drawn from their own work. You'llgain a better understanding of the diverse arrayof challenges we consider every day, learning howwe think about experiment design, datasetgeneration, time series analysis, featureengineering, and model building for financialdatasets. Your day-to-day project work will becomplemented by classes on the broaderfundamentals of markets and trading, lunchseminars, and activities designed to help youunderstand the entire process of creating a newtrading strategy, from initial exploration tofinding and productionizing a signal.

About you

If you've never thought about a career infinance, you're in good company. Many of uswere in the same position before working here.Most candidates will have experience with datascience or machine learning, but ultimately,we're more interested in how you think andlearn than what you currently know. You shouldbe:

• Able to apply logical and mathematicalthinking to all kinds of problems
• Intellectually curious; eager to askquestions, admit mistakes, and learn new things
• A strong programmer who's comfortablewith Python
• An open-minded thinker and precisecommunicator who enjoys collaborating withcolleagues from a wide range of backgrounds andareas of expertise

Most interns are current undergraduate orgraduate students, but we also welcome applicantswho have already graduated and are considering anew career in finance. Research experience is aplus.
