Quality Inspector - Manufacturing assembly with electrification and injection moulding inputs

Coventry

£32,000 plus 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits including cycle to work scheme

About the Role

Unipart Manufacturing is launching a flagship, fast-paced manufacturing project in Coventry, combining high-volume electrification assembly with complex injection moulding inputs. Fully aligned with Unipart's Sector and Growth Strategy and The Unipart Way Forward Plan, this exciting venture will scale rapidly from zero to over 200 team members within a four-month period. We are seeking a practical, detail-driven Quality Inspector to carry out incoming, in-process, and final inspection checks across complex manufacturing assemblies. Working directly on the shop floor, you will verify components against engineering drawings, inspect electrification parts and plastic injection mouldings, and ensure only compliant products move through production.

As part of your key responsibilities you'll focus on:

Shop-Floor and Goods-In Inspection - Perform visual, dimensional, and physical inspections of incoming raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods against technical specifications

Measurement and Metrology - Utilise hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and inspection equipment to check injection-moulded plastic tolerances and mechanical dimensions

Defect Containment and NCRs - Identify, log, and isolate non-conforming parts (NCRs) on the shop floor, assisting quality engineers with root-cause investigations (5-Why/8D data collection)

Specialised Process Verification - Conduct standard quality checks on electrified sub-assemblies, wiring harnesses, and structural welds

Documentation and SHE - Complete Certificates of Conformity (CofC), maintain precise inspection logs, and adhere strictly to site Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) procedures

About You

We'd love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you'd be able to perform well in this role!

Inspection Experience - Proven background as a Quality Inspector, Goods-In Inspector, or Quality Technician in automotive, aerospace, defence, or fast-paced manufacturing environments

Technical Blueprint Reading - Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

Practical Measurement Skills - Proficient in using handheld metrology equipment (verniers, micrometers, plug gauges, height gauges)

Component Exposure - Hands-on experience inspecting plastic components, electrical sub-assemblies, or welded fabrications
