Job Title

Quality Engineer

Role Purpose

To manage and oversee project quality arrangements across all phases of the project lifecycle, covering both internal and external activities.

The role is responsible for ensuring project audit activities are conducted to confirm the effective implementation of quality arrangements, along with accurate reporting of findings. The position will also support the wider Assurance function as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage project quality arrangements across assigned projects
  • Advise project teams on all aspects of quality management, including risks and issues
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish effective communication channels with customers and suppliers
  • Plan and carry out internal and external audits, including supplier audits
  • Provide man hour and cost estimates to support bids, tenders, and project forecasts
  • Participate in project meetings, contract reviews, and handover activities
  • Support the identification, management, and close out of quality non conformances
  • Review and approve supplier quality arrangements in line with project and customer requirements
  • Monitor progress against quality plans and elevate concerns where necessary
  • Liaise with customers to understand quality assurance, quality control, and inspection expectations
  • Review tender, enquiry, and contract documentation for quality requirements and specifications
  • Develop project quality plans, documentation, and project specific procedures where required
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental considerations are incorporated into quality documentation
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality and specification requirements are understood
  • Review purchase requisitions and purchase orders for quality input
  • Conduct supplier assessments
Knowledge Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of the nuclear industry or other highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations and legislation
  • Knowledge of customer quality requirements
  • Practical application of ISO 9001
Experience
  • Experience in a similar quality engineering or quality assurance role
  • Background in nuclear or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred
  • Persuasive and influential communication style
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Strong questioning and analytical mindset
  • Customer focused, both internally and externally
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent with standard IT tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and documentation to tight deadlines
  • Proactive in identifying and implementing improvements
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and best practice
  • Strong focus on health and safety
  • Ensures procedures are applied consistently and correctly
