About My Client

My client is a premier, global food trading and brokerage firm operating at the forefront of the international protein supply chain. Dealing extensively across the beef, pork, poultry, lamb, and seafood sectors, they connect major primary producers with international food service and processing partners. They are currently seeking a dynamic, hands on Quality Assurance Co-Ordinator to join their technical team in Waterford.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this is a versatile, high-visibility role ideal for a proactive quality professional. You will be responsible for upholding rigorous international food safety frameworks, conducting supplier and customer site visits, driving internal compliance, and supporting a company-wide culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier & Client Engagement: Conduct domestic and international site audits to verify supplier manufacturing practices, align on technical specs, handle customer quality reviews, and manage key client paperwork requests.

  • Standards & Audit Compliance: Maintain, upgrade, and audit the company's QA management systems to ensure seamless annual accreditation and full adherence to international standards.

  • Supply Chain Quality Assurance: Oversee new supplier onboarding approvals, conduct quality control checks on trade contracts, and lead root-cause investigations for customer complaints in a prompt, effective manner.

  • Internal Systems & SOPs: Perform routine internal audits on both technical quality processes and ERP systems. Update, refine, and maintain technical documentation, product specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Training & Quality Culture: Facilitate team training sessions on regulatory compliance and standard practices to foster an operational mindset centered on quality and efficiency.

  • Performance Reporting: Compile structured weekly, monthly, and quarterly technical reports tracking key performance indicators and quality metrics.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications
  • Experience & Education: Practical background in food manufacturing, food safety, or a relevant Third-Level qualification in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline.

  • Regulatory Frameworks: Working knowledge of BRCGS standards, HACCP principles, and current European/international food legislation.

  • Adaptability & Drive: A pragmatic, hands on work ethic with strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to travel as required.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to build trust with global suppliers, customers, and cross-functional internal teams.
