Quality and Governance Lead - Urgent Treatment Centres

Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated, experienced clinician with at least 2 years of practice in minor injuries care and X ray interpretation to lead quality and governance across our urgent treatment centres.

Working details
  • Hours: 16 hours per week (flexible) with opportunities for additional clinical shifts.
  • Salary: £26.01 per hour.
  • Location: Local Care Direct, Lexicon House, Wilmington Grove, Barrack Street, Leeds, LS7 2BQ.
  • Line Manager: Director of Clinical Governance & Quality.
Main duties
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision for minor injuries clinicians, ensuring robust induction, continuous professional development and expert mentoring.
  • Champion quality improvement through clinical audits, monitoring performance and implementing strategies to exceed CQC standards.
  • Work closely with clinical services managers and external partners to develop and refine care pathways, ensuring safe, efficient and compassionate care.
  • Maintain clinical expertise by independently assessing patients, diagnosing, interpreting X rays and managing treatment plans.
  • Promote a Just Culture that values learning from feedback and proactively addresses concerns, complaints and incidents.
Key responsibilities
  1. Act as clinical supervisor for practitioners in Wharfedale and St Georges UTC.
  2. Induct and support minor injuries clinicians through probationary reviews and PDR processes.
  3. Lead and participate in clinical audits and quality monitoring, delivering reports to senior leadership.
  4. Encourage and enable staff to achieve CQC standards and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  5. Collaborate with local health providers to implement new care pathways and service development initiatives.
  6. Support recruitment and ensure staff meet qualification, DBS and health safety requirements.

Person specification - essential
  • Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills.
  • Clinical audit experience and ability to produce reports.
  • Prioritise and manage own workload effectively.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in minor injuries practice.
  • Minimum 2 years X ray interpretation experience in minor injuries.
  • Valid current driving licence.
  • Current NMC/HCPC or equivalent registration (General Nurse, Paramedic, etc.).
  • Minor injuries qualification at Level 6 and X ray interpretation qualification.
Person specification - desirable
  • Independent prescriber qualification.
  • Experience with PGDs and minor illness practice.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of KPIs for urgent treatment centres.
  • Relevant IT system knowledge.
Training and development

Complete the company induction programme, core training and maintain accurate records of all training and refresher courses.

Health & safety

Adhere to all infection prevention and control policies, safeguarding procedures and MSc and DBS checks. All staff must be current with Hepatitis B vaccination and recommended flu jab.

Disclosure and Barring Service

Applicable DBS checks are required, including child/adult barring and enhanced checks for all clinical staff.

UK registration

Applicants must hold current UK professional registration.
