Job Description

QC Analyst, HPLC/ GC

Location: Manchester

Type: Permanent

Salary: £26000-£28000 depending on experience

Additional: 25 days + BH, medicash plan, onsite gym, company pension

The role:

An opportunity has arisen for a QC Analyst to join a growing laboratory team within a well-established chemicals/pharmaceutical organisation. You will be responsible for carrying out analytical testing to assess material quality, ensuring accurate recording of results, and supporting the wider quality function.

  • Perform analytical testing on raw materials, finished products, and retained samples using a range of laboratory techniques
  • Techniques include HPLC, GC, and other physico-chemical methods
  • Accurately record, interpret, and report analytical data in line with internal procedures
  • Maintain and update quality records within internal systems (e.g. ERP/LIMS)
  • Conduct sampling activities, including handling bulk materials where required
  • Support laboratory efficiency by meeting testing timelines and departmental targets
  • Carry out routine calibration and performance checks on laboratory equipment
  • Ensure laboratory areas are maintained to a high standard (clean, organised, audit-ready)
  • Follow established analytical methods and adapt customer-specific methods where needed
  • Provide support across the QC function when required, including team cover
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with quality standards (e.g. ISO) and health & safety requirements
The Person: Essential:
  • Degree in Chemistry (or related discipline) OR equivalent industry experience
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC and/or GC (will consider LC/MS)
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and working with internal systems/databases
