Role: Python Developer in Test

AMD is expanding the team responsible for system-level validation of networking, low-latency Ethernet Adapters, and SmartNIC technology in the Data Center Group. We are seeking senior engineers for a role focused on system-level testing within a larger team.

You will help test solutions to meet end-customer requirements, using a framework of heavily automated test suites. These test harnesses are multi-threaded and stress our products to verify functionality and reliability under adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, execute and support comprehensive test cases using modern test frameworks based on defined and extrapolated use cases.
• Work with a development team during the test cycle using the home-grown tool chain to run tens of thousands of test cases, analyze results, present findings clearly, and investigate root causes.
• Collaborate across functional teams to learn about all aspects of product design and lifecycle.
• Support automated test systems that provide continuous product validation and generate large datasets for analysis and triage.

Requirements

• Typically 2-4 years of experience in a similar role; highly capable entry-level candidates with initiative and strong problem solving will be considered.
• Excellent Python proficiency; C/C++ experience is a bonus.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, operating systems concepts, and multi-threaded programming.
• Strong design and coding skills, familiarity with Linux and modern development tools and techniques.
• Inquisitive and curious nature, with a drive to understand how things work and to root-cause issues.
• Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, teamwork and good interpersonal communication.
• Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, RDMA) is preferred but not essential.

Academic Credentials

• A degree in a scientific or engineering subject, an equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.
