Purview Data Governance - Knowledge & Training Specialist (M365)

We're engaging a Purview Data Governance - Knowledge & Training Specialist to rapidly uplift data governance capability and Microsoft Purview literacy across a complex Microsoft 365 estate.

This is a short, outcome-focused engagement aimed at turning Purview from a technical tool into an Embedded, business-as-usual capability. You'll assess current capability, document real-world configuration, design role-based learning pathways, and produce practical training and digital learning assets that enable teams to use Purview confidently and correctly.

What you'll deliver:

Rapid Capability Assessment & Mobilisation

• Assess baseline Purview literacy across priority user groups
• Identify priority capability gaps and define the training approach
• Produce a concise 1-page capability assessment summary

Purview Configuration Understanding

• Review how Purview is configured in practice (RBAC, domains, collections, metadata/glossary)
• Map roles to responsibilities and governance ownership
• Produce a configuration understanding summary

Design Role-Based Training Pathways

• Design two clear learning pathways:
  • Data & AI Governance Team
  • Data Stewards/Business Users
• Define modules, sequencing and learning objectives

Develop Written Training & Guidance Materials

• Produce practical, low-literacy friendly materials including:
  • Step-by-step guides
  • Quick reference sheets
  • Hands-on practice scenarios
• Create a full guidance suite for Governance and Stewards

Build Mandatory E-learning Package

• Convert training content into a short interactive E-learning module
• Include screen walkthroughs, knowledge checks and final assessment
• Package as a mandatory Purview learning module

Pilot, Refine & Handover

• Pilot training with small user groups
• Refine materials based on feedback
• Handover all materials with guidance for BAU ownership and maintenance

What we're looking for (Essential)

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and data governance
• Proven experience designing and delivering role-based training and digital learning/E-learning content
• Confident using E-learning tools or LMS platforms to build interactive learning modules
• Ability to translate complex configuration into simple, practical guidance
• Comfortable engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Able to deliver at pace in short, outcome-driven engagements

Nice to have

• Experience working in regulated or complex enterprise environments
• Background in data governance, information management or compliance
