Job Description
About The Role

As a Purchase Ledger Clerk(Invoice Processing & Supplier Reconciliations), you will play a key role within our finance team, supporting the accurate and efficient processing of supplier invoices across a busy, multi-entity environment. Reporting to the Purchase Ledger Team Lead, you will help ensure supplier payments, reconciliations and financial records are maintained to a high standard while supporting strong financial controls.

What you'll be doing
  • Processing high volumes of PO and non-PO supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and working with operational stakeholders to resolve discrepancies
  • Processing credit notes, adjustments and reallocations while ensuring invoices are coded correctly to cost centres and nominal accounts
  • Handling higher value or higher risk invoices with strong attention to financial controls and compliance
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring balances are accurate and well supported
  • Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies, duplicate payments and supplier queries
  • Acting as a first escalation point for complex supplier matters and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Supporting month-end activities, including invoice cut-off deadlines, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals where required
  • Maintaining documentation to support audit requirements and internal financial controls
  • Providing guidance to operational teams on invoice approvals, coding and query resolution
  • Supporting continuous improvement, including system enhancements, automation initiatives and process improvements

About You

We are looking for someone who brings strong Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable experience, ideally within a high-volume or complex finance environment.

You will be highly organised and detail focused, comfortable processing invoices accurately while managing supplier reconciliations and resolving queries efficiently. You will also be confident communicating with both suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved quickly and professionally.

You will likely bring:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable environment
  • Strong knowledge of supplier reconciliations, invoice processing and financial controls
  • Experience handling complex queries or escalated supplier issues
  • Confidence supporting month-end processes and audit requirements
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A collaborative mindset with a willingness to support colleagues and share knowledge
