Pupil Support Officer - fixed term until 26/07/2027 at Bruntsfield Primary School.
Salary: £30,188 £34,452 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Hours: 32 per week, 39 weeks sessional.
ResponsibilitiesThe role will be crucial in helping to address the poverty related attainment gap. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting children and young people who are disengaged from learning or experiencing difficulties.
- Working with individuals or groups to improve literacy, numeracy and social skills.
- Building trusting relationships with children and their families, which may involve support within family homes.
- Recording attendance and progress, and tracking attendance and attainment.
- Providing targeted interventions and support to raise attainment.
Preferred experience includes:
- Experience working with children and young people with social and emotional needs, especially those supported by children and young people with support needs (PSAs).
- Demonstrated ability to lead groups and track impact.
- Experience raising attainment through focused interventions.
- Experience with recording and tracking attendance and attainment.
Applicants should be creative, well organised, and effective communicators with a passion for supporting children and young people.
Training and DevelopmentTraining opportunities will be provided once the successful candidate is in post.
Legal and SafeguardingThis post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required if the individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory outcome of these checks.
