Pupil Support Officer

Balerno Learning Community

Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro rata for part time and sessional)

Hours: 27 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Balerno Learning Community includes Dean Park Primary, Ratho Primary and Balerno High School. All schools work closely together to meet the diverse needs of pupils.

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic practitioner to join our Inclusion and Wellbeing Team as a Pupil Support Officer across the Balerno Learning Community. This role supports the Learning Community's inclusive ethos by working with children, families, and partners to reduce barriers to learning and promote positive wellbeing, engagement, and behaviour.

Responsibilities
  • Foster positive relationships and engagement by working collaboratively with pupils, families and staff
  • Work in partnership with families to strengthen engagement in learning and address barriers to participation in school life
  • Plan and deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions to support children's social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Liaise with partner agencies and community organisations to coordinate and enhance support for children and families
Qualifications
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families in a supportive or pastoral role is essential

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
