Public Health Officer - Smokefree Generation
Fixed Term Contract - 2 Years
Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week
We're looking for a motivated and collaborative Public Health Officer to support the delivery of Birmingham's ambitious Smokefree Generation work. Backed by new national funding, this role sits in our Adults Public Health team and plays a vital part in expanding and strengthening local stop smoking services across the city.
You'll support the Senior Programme Officer and Service Lead to manage innovative smokefree projects, strengthen partnerships, and make sure services deliver meaningful outcomes for Birmingham's diverse communities.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing data, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, and hands-on coordination.
Responsibilities- Manage and monitor a portfolio of local smoking cessation contracts
- Work closely with NHS colleagues, community partners and specialist providers
- Contribute to the development of innovative stop smoking services
- Analyse data to identify local needs and opportunities
- Support the Tobacco Control Alliance
- Coordinate reports, project updates, equality impact work and briefings
- Support business resilience, data governance and assurance processes
- Organise and minute key meetings, workshops and events
- A degree or relevant equivalent qualification
- Experience working with stakeholders and partners in a public health, community, or service-focused setting
