Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Hull 0-19 specialist public health service as a public health nurse. The role involes supporting the health visitors and school nurses as well as our single point of contact team and immunisation programmes

The role involves providing face to face care in line with the healthy child programme for children, young people and their families

The role is based at Anlaby clinic but is city wide across the City of Hull

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the effective delivery of care packages to an identifiedcaseload of children and young people, their families and carers, asdelegated by the Integrated Specialist Public Health Nurse ( 5-19)There will be a requirement to provide a service between 8.00 am - 8.00 pm over a 5-day Monday - Friday period, to meet the needs of Children and Young People and service delivery.Maintain, as part of continual professional development, up to date clinical knowledge/skills in public health nursing, using information to effect change in practice and ensuring the effective dissemination of new knowledge.

Develop and implement personal knowledge to enable the effective delivery of quality care to children and young people, and their families/carersDemonstrate a range of clinical interventions, procedures and practices which are evidence based and relevant to the clinical area.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • holds a degree or diploma in nursing
  • A willingness to undertake mentorship
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical service area
  • An understanding of relevant clinical practice
  • Be live on Mentor Register
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application to clinical area
Experience
  • Willingness to undertake and complete preceptorship programme
  • Appropriate knowledge and experience of working in the community
  • An understanding of caseload management responsibilites
  • Evidence of promoting /supporting children and young people
skills and competencies
  • Able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge and experience of working in the community
  • Evidence of good time management skills
  • ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity
  • Ability to commute between varies sites, schools and family homes
  • Awareness of leadership/ management skills and qualities
  • Have knowledge of the trust policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage daily operations and maintain safe working environment
