Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant September 2026 start until July 2027 £85 - £105 per day Excellent primary school, Ward of Yardley SEN support across EYFS and KS1If you are a Psychology graduate who wants school experience that supports your application for a PGCE or a longer-term route into SEND, this Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant role gives you proper exposure to early identification, routine-building and learning support. You will work across EYFS and KS1, helping children with additional needs access learning, communicate confidently and feel safe and settled in school.The Role
- You will support children with SEN across EYFS and KS1 through 1:1, small group and in-class support.
- You will help children access learning through structured routines, clear transitions and predictable expectations.
- You will support early communication and language by modelling simple phrases, prompting turn-taking and checking understanding.
- You will reinforce early literacy through daily phonics practice, sound recognition and early reading behaviours.
- You will support early number development through practical, hands-on activities and short intervention sessions.
- You will use visual supports, first then boards, and simple checklists to reduce anxiety and support independence.
- You will support emotional regulation by using calm language, consistent boundaries and agreed strategies.
- You will observe and record key learning and behaviour information and share it clearly with the class teacher and SENCO.
- You will follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times and report concerns immediately.
- You will have a 2:2 degree or above in Psychology (or a closely related subject).
- You will have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
- You will be calm, patient and consistent, especially when children struggle with routine or regulation.
- You will communicate clearly with children and adults and you will maintain professional boundaries.
- You will be reliable, proactive and comfortable working as part of a wider support team.
- You will have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or you will be willing to obtain one.
