Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a skilled PSV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in various repair and maintenance tasks, and be very familiar with operator compliance for PSV operations.
The successful candidate would ideally be IRTEC certified, but this training can be provided (subject to employment agreement) if needed.
This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of our equipment and vehicles, providing high-quality service to our customers while maintaining safety standards.
Duties include (but are not limited to) :
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on a variety of machinery, mainly PSV vehicles, but also some smaller vehicles.
Perform equipment repairs using hand tools and power tools, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
Fabricate components as needed, employing skills in welding and soldering to create durable solutions.
Read and interpret schematics and electrical diagrams to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Experience with diagnostic software would be an advantage.
Assemble parts and ensure all components are functioning correctly before returning equipment to service.
Work closely with the Transport Manager and Parts Manager to ensure efficient, cost effective maintenance systems and full compliance with all DVSA requirements regarding maintenance.
Use of electronic record keeping and software for maintenance records.
Handle heavy lifting as required during the repair process, ensuring adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Skills
Proficient in fabrication, welding, and soldering techniques.
Strong understanding of electrical systems alongside mechanical knowledge.
Experience with hand tools, power tools, and assembly processes.
Ability to perform equipment repair efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the capability to read schematics effectively.
Capability to undertake heavy lifting as part of daily responsibilities.
Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy
