Job Description

The property Stores team have a new and exciting volunteer opportunity within their department - the Property Store Volunteer will have a chance to contribute and support this hardworking team to clear a significant backlog of items within the department.

The volunteer will be supporting Property Stores team with the disposal of property already identified for removal, dealing with items in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will be will be supporting Property Stores team with the disposal of property already identified for removal, dealing with items in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.

  • Removing property identified for disposal from shelves in a safe, secure, and efficient manner which come into police possession.
  • Placing property in the appropriate place for disposal. Safe and secure handling, storage, and disposal of items.
  • Dynamically risk assess all items of seized property into the main store, making provisions for handling and disposal of large, heavy items using the appropriate equipment provided, complying with H&S procedures, i.e. manual handling guidance, working at height etc.
  • Ensuring property is disposed of in accordance with Force policies and procedures.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal stakeholders and external customers interacting with the property service.
  • The successful volunteer will be required to completion the College of Policing H&S training and all relevant training

Please note the role is based in the Adur area in West Sussex.

Skills & Experience
  • It is important that the volunteer can work from heights and has a reasonable level of fitness to support with the role and has the ability to carry heavy objects in a safe manner.
  • Follow H&S procedures and policies with regards to handling items for disposal.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work on own and be initiative-taking, as well as being a positive team player.
  • Diligence - logical method of working.
