Job Description

Real Estate Dispute Resolution Senior Associate 5+ PQE Birmingham

BCL Legal is working with a leading national law firm seeking an experienced Real Estate Dispute Resolution Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Birmingham team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a respected partner and experienced team, handling a broad range of high-quality property disputes for an impressive client base including developers, investors, landlords, tenants and public sector organisations.

The Role:
  • Manage your own caseload of complex real estate disputes with appropriate supervision.
  • Advise on a broad range of landlord and tenant disputes, including lease renewals, dilapidations and forfeiture.
  • Handle development-related disputes including rights of light, restrictive covenants and boundary disputes.
  • Manage possession proceedings, trespass claims and property enforcement matters.
  • Support property insolvency and other contentious real estate work.
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements and instructions to counsel.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations and client meetings.
  • Support partners and senior colleagues on complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to training and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Build strong client relationships and become involved in business development initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5+ years' PQE in property litigation or real estate dispute resolution.
  • Strong technical knowledge of landlord and tenant law and wider real estate disputes.
  • Experience of County Court and First-tier Tribunal proceedings.
  • Confident managing your own caseload while working collaboratively within a wider team.
  • Commercially minded with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy abilities.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
