Job Description

Boaz Trust provides safe, stable homes for people who have experienced homelessness after a decision on their asylum application. A good home needs to be looked after properly. That's why we need a Property Assistant to keep our homes across Greater Manchester safe, working well, and welcoming for the people who live there.

You will need a full valid UK driving licence and your own car. This is essential. You will travel between properties every day and carry tools and supplies with you. You will also need good spoken and written English. You will talk to tenants, contractors, and colleagues. You will also keep written records and update our systems. Clear communication is important for keeping tenants safe and informed.

The people we support have gone through the asylum system and are trying to build a new life in a place of safety. A home that works properly makes a big difference. If a tap leaks or a lock breaks, fixing it quickly helps someone feel safe and settled. Because of this, patience and friendly, clear communication are just as important as practical skills.

Day to day, you will travel around our 15 properties in Greater Manchester. You will fix things like door handles, leaks, and lights. You will check that gardens and shared areas are tidy and safe. You will carry out regular property checks. You will work closely with our Property Manager, who you will report to and agree your schedule and priorities with. You will also liaise with contractors when bigger repairs are needed and keep people living in our houses updated on progress. You will keep clear records of the work you do using our computer-based system. It is varied, hands-on work, and every day is a bit different.

We are looking for someone practical and reliable. You take pride in doing a job well and you show up when you say you will. You are happy managing your own workload day to day, while knowing you have the support and guidance of the Property Manager whenever you need it. You can turn your hand to different jobs, from basic repairs to painting. Just as important, you treat people with respect and kindness in their own homes.

If you share our values and you are looking for practical work that makes a real difference to people's lives, we would love to hear from you.
