Property & Operations Director, Boots Ireland

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of retail operations? Boots Ireland is seeking a Property & Retail Operations Director to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives and make a significant impact across our stores, all while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
What You'll Be DoingIn this pivotal role, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing property and operational strategies that align with our vision and business objectives. You will work closely with the Managing Director and the Irish Leadership Team to ensure high performance and collaborative working across the board. Your insights will influence strategies that drive results and enhance our retail operational platform delivering market leading availability to customers and ensure a seamless flow through our shopping channels.
You will be accountable for ensuring that we minimize stock loss and ensuring a strong culture of controls and governance. Additionally you will be accountable for operational cost including logistics, cleaning, guarding, and store consumables, and ensuring good procurement practices are embedded in the team.
This role also includes full accountability for all property costs, as well as the expansion and optimization of our store estate assets.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the Managing Director and the Irish Leadership Team and ensuring high performance and results driven collaborative working. Bring insight from across the breath of the role to influence strategies across the leadership team.
- Manage significant P&L responsibilities, ensuring financial health and sustainability.
- Working with the Director of Stores, set and oversee operational standards across the store estate ensuring that these deliver a world leading retail experience for our customers and colleagues.
- Oversight of the store audit process ensuring that all functions are engaged appropriately.
- Work with the Director of Stores to ensure that controls identified to reduce loss are actioned in all stores on a consistent basis.
- Strategically identify and secure funding for new store opportunities, optimizing our estate to meet market demands.
- Oversee estate performance, identifying underperforming stores and implementing improvement strategies.
- Influence external bodies to work together to reduce incident of violence and aggression towards our colleagues and loss to our business.
- Oversee all operational communication and guidance issued to stores, to support them to run their stores in an efficient, safe, and planned manner.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes, through process change and the introduction of technology, to remove unnecessary workload from stores.
- Ensure that costs are controlled and managed, seeking opportunities to reduce spend while improving outcomes for customers and colleagues. Ensure that suppliers are well managed, delivering value for money, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and managed in line with service level agreements.
- Responsibility for the strategic direction of the Irish supply chain in the context of Brexit, this role is accountable for shaping the future thinking in this space to ensure that we continue to have a supply chain that is fit for purpose.
- Extensive experience in senior retail positions with accountability across operations, property, and supply chain.
- Proven track record in senior leadership roles, demonstrating strong business acumen and P&L impact.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Up-to-date knowledge of customs and importation legal requirements in Ireland and the EU with ability to horizon scan and plan for changes as needed.
- Ability to deal with complex long term investment decisions. A strong financial acumen is a must.
- A strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and strength in planning, data interpretation and analytical skills.
- Experience in project leadership and overseeing initiatives from inception to completion.
- Background in Retail Pharmacy, which would be advantageous.
