The Revenue and Financial Operations function is responsible for the effective and successful delivery of all Revenue, Business Performance & Project Reporting activities along with the delivery of all Reporting and Accounting processes and activities. The function is a strategic advisor and a lead interface between the CFO, the Uisce Éireann business areas and the finance teams, managing, shaping and supporting a consistent finance service provision.
The Finance Operations area for Uisce Eireann ensures effective financial management for the organisation and provides the expertise, services, and information to support the business in achieving its required business outcomes, including supporting the financial and information requirements of Uisce Eireann. Additionally, the team is responsible for the effective and successful delivery of all Business Performance & Project Reporting activities and the delivery of all Reporting and Accounting processes and activities.
Reporting to the Capex and Major Projects Manager, the Project Reporting Analyst has the responsibility for project month end close.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for month end activities including resolving any issues before close, managing any allocation and performing reconciliations and control checklists
- Complete all project accounting and fixed asset activities in compliance with internal policies, procedures, regulations, and accounting principles
- Assist in the completion of month end activities in conjunction with the business including resolving any issues before close, perform reconciliations & manage any allocations
- Monitor interfaces to ensure project costs are captured correctly & liaise with business units to resolve any issues
- Acts as the interface with IT where required to resolve project accounting issues
- Monitor the system controls that are in place in relation to budgets
- Assist in the preparation of monthly project reporting for management activities in conjunction with the business
- Ensure that all close activities are completed in line with the timeframe set by the Reporting and Accounting team
- Assist in the preparation of the reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the RAB by highlighting anomalies in the areas supported
- Provide information to the external auditors
- Prepare information to feed into capital benchmarking
- Prepare information on capex costs for commercial contracts
- Assist in the preparation of financial project reports for grants and contracts on a timely basis
- Work with stakeholders to develop good relationships
- Deliver good quality reporting on time in line with the KPIs in the SLA and to the required standard
- Challenge current processes and look for opportunities for continuous improvement to enable improved efficiency and performance
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
- Other duties as required
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA) or equivalent
- Relevant third level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and/or relevant experience
- Familiar with working with Oracle Projects and eBusiness Suite an advantage
- Familiar with working in a utility environment will be an advantage
- Excellent skills in excel and experience in PowerPoint and Word
- Experience in encouraging teamwork and knowledge-sharing to enhance team performance. Evidence of motivating colleagues to achieve shared goals and improve outcomes
- Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally
- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others
- Proven track record in identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and make improvement decisions that benefit the team/communities.
- Experience in independently resolving customer challenges while maintaining high service standards.
- Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results within a team.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
- Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
- Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
- Experience in taking ownership of safety responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
