Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Planner. You will be involved in scheduling and cost control efforts for all project phases, taking ownership and overseeing multiple projects valued between 2-25 million USD. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, and analyzing actual and forecasted schedules, costs, and risks, as well as monitoring, reporting, and managing deviations.

You will ensure projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standards, managing the integrated schedule and cost control performance measurement for the entire scope of work.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project requirements with the team to ensure all essential activities are identified in detail for realistic scheduling.
  • Monitor project progress, analyze critical paths, and communicate deviations or scheduling issues to Project Managers, providing input for resource optimization.
  • Issue progress reports, program updates, and productivity data regularly and as requested, using customer reporting portals such as Fastdraft where appropriate.
  • Establish a baseline plan for cost performance measurement and work with the team to define necessary resources, evaluating the work breakdown structure.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, clients, and contractors to identify scope changes and quantify impacts promptly.
  • Integrate material resource requirements with schedules, define procurement activities, and coordinate with Supply Chain Management to ensure timely procurement and schedule adherence.
  • Participate in project reviews, update project data in control systems, and communicate progress and issues with solutions to management.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment.

Your Background:

  • Proven experience as a Planner in similar industries, preferably EPC projects in T&D.
  • Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, and familiarity with mature scheduling tools and methods.
  • Operational experience as part of project teams.
  • Ability to advise and lead project teams regarding program progress.
  • Effective communication skills across all business areas.
  • Expertise in Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to travel to Birmingham office and site as needed.
