Wates are looking for a Project Manager to join our SmartSpace team, taking project leadership on a range of exciting new build education fit out and refurb projects. If you are a Project Manager with proven technical skills looking for an opportunity to challenge the norm, bring fresh new ideas and elevate yourself within the industry, we would like to hear from you!
To be suited to this opportunity, you will ideally have previous MOJ/prison fit out experience, and a keen interest in working both in front and behind the wire. This role involves working in partnership with the Ministry of Justice on some of their high value projects across the country.

About the roleOur Project Managers are a valuable part of our business. The focus of this role will be to provide visible management, insight, project coordination and foresight in the safe and compliant delivery of schemes, while also providing excellent customer satisfaction and successfully mentoring and guiding a team.
This role will involve nationwide travel in line with ongoing and upcoming projects across the UK.
Responsibilities- Develop project briefs, schedules, and budgets; manage work from, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Manage on-site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure quality control of installations.
- Monitor project budgets, track variations, manage costs, and approve progress claims.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, provide regular progress updates, and ensure satisfaction.
- Hold regular feedback sessions with the client at the MoJ, ensuring communication is clear, regular and critical project updates are given.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards (e.g., RAMS), conduct risk assessments, and maintain a safe, compliant site.
- Manage site documentation, including RFIs, change orders, and snagging lists.
- Provide regular support, feedback, and cover for your project director in their absence.
