DescriptionOur Project Management and Implementation teams are central to activpayroll's global success. They lead the onboarding of new customers across multiple countries and ensure a smooth transition into our global payroll service. As our customer base continues to grow, we're expanding our Projects function and inviting applications for the role of Project Manager.
This role requires strong payroll experience, ideally in multi country or international payroll environments, alongside solid project delivery skills. You don't necessarily need to have been a Project Manager before - but you must understand how payroll works, be confident engaging with clients, and be ready to lead structured, fast moving onboarding processes.
The role can be based in any activpayroll location, with the requirement to support UK/US aligned hours.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Manager, you will lead the end to end onboarding of new global customers into activpayroll. You'll manage multiple concurrent projects, coordinate timelines and deliverables, and ensure clients are set up for success in their ongoing payroll operations.
- Lead multi country customer onboarding projects from initiation to go live
- Facilitate client kickoff calls, planning workshops, and regular project updates
- Build and oversee project plans, risk logs, schedules, and documentation libraries
- Coordinate with payroll teams to ensure accurate and complete data collection
- Translate client payroll requirements into clear actions for internal teams
- Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early and drive solutions
- Act as the primary client contact throughout onboarding, ensuring strong communication
- Prepare agendas, chair meetings, document actions, and follow up effectively
- Escalate delays or challenges promptly to maintain project momentum
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and customer experience
- Collaborate with teams across functions, time zones, and countries
- Contribute to improving processes, playbooks, tools, and templates
- Represent activpayroll professionally and provide a confident first experience for customers
- You have proven experience in payroll delivery and implementation - ideally multi country, international, or complex payroll
- You understand payroll terminology, processes, compliance, and data requirements
- You're confident managing clients and stakeholders through structured processes
- You can turn technical payroll requirements into clear, actionable project steps
- You have experience supporting or delivering projects
- You communicate clearly and professionally
- You're organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple tasks at once
- You enjoy problem solving and keeping projects on track
- You're familiar with tools like Microsoft Teams, Excel, SharePoint, or willing to learn quickly
- You stay calm under pressure and adapt well to changing priorities
- You enjoy working collaboratively with global teams
- You take pride in delivering a strong customer experience
