This is your opportunity to be part of a high-impact team, delivering mission-critical projects that support the UK's smart metering infrastructure and energy transformation.
In this role, you will lead complex, multi-year projects (often exceeding £30 million in value), working within a matrix structure across cross-functional teams, third-party suppliers, internal stakeholders, and external regulatory bodies.
We're looking for problem-solvers who thrive in dynamic, evolving environments. You're someone who simplifies complexity, earns trust from stakeholders, and leads with a commitment to delivery excellence. Your influence and resilience will help shape the future of smart energy in the UK.
What will you be doing?
Deliver end-to-end project management, including planning, scoping, budgeting, resource management, risk/issue mitigation, and change control.
Manage stakeholder relationships across government departments, regulatory bodies, and suppliers.
Lead multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment to deliver to strict quality, time, and budget constraints.
Oversee commercial, financial, and contractual responsibilities, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Drive transition planning and service acceptance, ensuring smooth handover into live operations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Service Delivery function and across Smart DCC.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience on complex, high-value programmes with technical components and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong leadership and matrix management skills, including experience managing underperformance and driving results.
- Proven track record in managing third-party delivery and transitions into live service.
- PRINCE2 accredited, with advanced skills in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Confident communicator, skilled in writing reports and presenting to executive audiences.
- Committed to professional growth and cross-company engagement (e.g. D&I and employee networks).
- Experience in the UK energy sector or network-based programmes.
- Understanding of technical operations platforms and public-sector delivery environments.
