Job Description Purpose of the role

To support change delivery managers in the delivery of successful projects, while ensuring that project management processes and practices are aligned with controls and governance standards and that projects are aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives.

Accountabilities

Support to change delivery managers, ensuring their programme is compliant with the Barclays Control Framework, including oversight of controls and governance standards.

Creation and implementation of standardised PMO processes and methodologies that are aligned with controls and governance standards and that support the delivery of successful projects.

Monitoring of project performance, including tracking of project progress, identification of risks assumptions, issues and dependencies, and creation of report on project status to senior management.

Support of project documentation, including maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring that project documentation is up-to-date and accurate.

Facilitation of project governance, including ensuring that projects are aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives, and that project risks assumptions, issues and dependencies are managed effectively.

Provision of change management framework training to project managers and other stakeholders, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver successful projects.

Continuous improvement of project management practices, including identification of areas for improvement and implementation of changes to improve project delivery.

Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.

Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.

Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Job Summary

Join us as a Project Management Officer (PMO) within the Portfolio Execution team at Barclays, where you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of strategic change initiatives by ensuring strong governance, effective controls, and consistent project management practices.

Working closely with the Project Manager and stakeholders, you will help maintain the operational mechanics of project delivery, ensuring reporting, financial tracking, and governance processes are executed to a high standard.

Role Highlights

The role will include; supporting project governance and control activities across complex programmes, producing high-quality executive dashboards and governance materials for senior stakeholders, and managing project financials, reporting, and delivery tracking to ensure effective oversight and decision-making.

Requirements

To be successful as a Project Management Officer, you should have:

  • Strong understanding of project management standards, governance frameworks, and delivery controls
  • Proven experience producing high-impact executive dashboards, reporting packs, and governance materials
  • Experience managing project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking across project lifecycles
Highly Valued Skills

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience using Navigator for project tracking and governance activities
  • Experience using JIRA within Agile delivery environments
  • Understanding of Agile project management practices and the application of AI to support project controls, reporting, and oversight
