About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Health & Safety Lead to support the safe planning and delivery of a major industrial demolition project in Cork City. Acting as the principal onsite Health & Safety representative, you will work closely with project management teams, site personnel, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.

This is a full-time, site-based role requiring a hands on approach within a fast paced demolition environment. The successful candidate will provide professional health and safety guidance, promote a positive safety culture, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance throughout all project phases.

Key responsibilities

Health & Safety Leadership

Act as the lead Health & Safety representative on site.

Provide professional health and safety advice and guidance to project teams.

Promote a positive behavioural safety culture across all levels of the workforce.

Support the safe planning and execution of project activities.

Site Monitoring & Compliance

Carry out regular site inspections and audits.

Monitor compliance with Republic of Ireland health and safety legislation, industry standards and company procedures.

Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions where required.

Support the development, review and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Communication & Reporting

Maintain effective communication with management, employees, subcontractors and clients on all health and safety matters.

Produce and present inspection and performance reports.

Monitor and report on health and safety trends, actions and improvement initiatives.

Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and safety presentations.

Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.

Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventative actions.

Produce detailed investigation reports and share lessons learned across the project.

Support company wide health and safety initiatives as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.

Assist with audits, reviews and the development of new systems and procedures.

Contribute to the achievement of strategic Health & Safety objectives.

Drive continuous improvement in site safety performance and standards.

What we're looking for

NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification or equivalent.

Experience within demolition, construction or another high risk industrial environment.

Strong knowledge of Republic of Ireland health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

Experience conducting site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring.

Experience investigating incidents and producing detailed reports.

Ability to review and support the development of RAMS.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage personnel at all levels.

Proactive, practical and hands on approach to health and safety management.

Degree in Health & Safety or related discipline.

NVQ Level 5/6 in Occupational Health & Safety or NEBOSH Diploma.

Membership of a recognised professional body such as IOSH.

Previous experience working on major demolition or industrial decommissioning projects.
