Project Engineer - Rail Infrastructure Projects

Location: Kent, with travel across South London and Kent
Contract Type: Full-time

Are you an experienced engineering professional ready to lead the delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects? We're looking for a Project Engineer to manage design and construction activities across a diverse portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering design and construction for allocated projects, ensuring compliance with relevant Railway Group standards, formal specifications, and procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of Network Rail standards and systems to maintain a cost-effective, high-quality, and safe approach to technical activities.
  • Manage engineering activities to deliver affordable, timely, and environmentally responsible solutions.
  • Oversee and develop the engineering team, including rostering and training to enhance skills and competencies.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Works Delivery Managers, Asset Teams, and Territory Maintenance Engineers (TMEs), including cross-boundary coordination with Sussex teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety management systems, including briefing updates and changes.
  • Provide expert project management advice on construction activities, ensuring alignment with CDM regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • Apply risk assessment techniques (quantitative and qualitative), including HAZOP analysis, and manage environmental aspects in line with company environmental policies.
About You
  • Proven experience in engineering project management within the rail or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of Railway Group and Network Rail standards.
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and regions.
  • Willingness to travel across South London and Kent as required.
