An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Accountant to join a highly respected organisation based in Salford. This permanent role is perfect for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about process automation, financial accuracy, and continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring the integrity of financial statements across multiple projects, supporting both operational efficiency and transformation initiatives.

What you'll do:

• Perform daily, monthly, and year-end accounting activities with precision to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all project portfolios.
• Set up new projects and contracts across various divisions, managing eventing processes, journal entries, status changes, and payroll recoveries as required.
• Conduct regular reconciliations for Work In Progress (WIP) and Construction In Progress (CIP), ensuring any discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved to maintain balance sheet integrity.
• Undertake cleansing activities including housekeeping tasks, correcting mispostings, making bulk changes, and identifying overspends within Capex projects to support financial health.
• Investigate and clear old project balances efficiently to reduce risk exposure on the balance sheet while supporting audit activities throughout the annual calendar.
• Participate actively in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for SaaS releases and other system developments to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business processes.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance Operations to resolve discrepancies, share knowledge through cross-training initiatives, and avoid single points of failure within project processes.
• Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation while ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are understood and consistently followed by all team members.
• Deliver high-quality service levels aligned with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the Record-to-Report (RTR) team.
• Support ongoing automation efforts and finance transformation projects by identifying opportunities for operational efficiency's while complying with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

What you bring:

• Qualified accountant or part-qualified/QBE with significant experience in Record-to-Report (RTR) functions within a fast-paced finance department.
• Proficiency in accounting software- ideally Oracle Fusion ERP- and familiarity with Projects subledger modules for effective project management.
• Previous involvement in finance transformation projects or innovative problem-solving approaches would be advantageous.
• Experience working within global or shared finance service centres is desirable along with exposure to department transformations or agile methodologies.
• A digital mindset that embraces process automation solutions alongside strong IT skills including GSuite applications and advanced Excel capabilities.
• Exceptional organisational abilities paired with attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
