About the Role
Working directly with the CPMO management team, the CPMO Programme Manager will report to the Chief Product & Marketing Officer for the delivery of several interrelated projects that make up the programme to support the delivery of our new publishing from 2026 onwards.
The CPMO Programme Manager will work with the CPMO management team and other key stakeholders to create, lead, and manage a programme to ensure all milestones remain on track and target dates are achieved for these programmes.
The CPMO Programme Manager takes responsibility for the successful delivery of the programme to quality, budget, and scope, leading to and including business-critical customer-facing product launch and sales of new titles. The CPMO Programme Manager will assist the management team in building out an overall programme plan and engage and oversee the allocated internal resources while managing risks and issues related to the Programme deliverables. The CPMO Programme Manager will line manage a Project Manager and work with all the wider teams to successfully deliver these programmes.
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible to the Chief Product & Marketing Officer for the successful delivery of the programme requirements and related business benefits to the agreed time, budget, quality, and scope. This includes planning for a blend of Agile technical teams and waterfall business work streams.
- Manage overall workstreams, create workable project plans with sponsors, chair and drive progress at Programme Board meetings, track progress against plans, write reports, manage senior stakeholders, and keep the Programme Team and Programme Board updated.
- Line management of Project Manager to deliver smaller CPMO projects.
- Create, update, own, and implement a comprehensive programme plan and release plans, identifying milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, issues, mitigations, and deliverables. Ensure plans are baselined and accessible to all teams and related groups, facilitating cross workstream communication to resolve issues.
- Communicate objectives, schedules, deadlines, budgets, and other parameters regularly to all team members and stakeholders. Troubleshoot and respond quickly to issues to minimize impacts on time, cost, and quality.
- Think creatively and adaptively, proactively engaging stakeholders, teams, and suppliers to address and mitigate risks and issues early.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in business change, transformation, digital technology programmes, or product launch scope.
- Successful programme delivery experience, especially with Agile/Waterfall hybrid projects.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and steer teams towards objectives.
- Proactive, confident, and self-managing with initiative-taking ability.
- Good commercial awareness and budget management skills.
- Energetic, driven, approachable personality.
- Knowledge of project management disciplines, publishing, and software development lifecycle.
- Experience with risk & issue management in complex projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across organizational levels.
- Flexible, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a fluid, global, multi-site team within a structured publishing environment.
- Experience driving change management projects and working with senior management on strategic initiatives.
