Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa - Playcentre Aotearoa is a licensed early childhood education provider and charitable trust. With a philosophy of empowering 'parents as first educators', Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.

About the role:

As a Programme Facilitator, you lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of our Space sessions. You strive to create engaging, nurturing experiences for whānau and pēpi.

Duties include, but are not limited to

  • Planning and setup of the sessions, ensuring any equipment is safe and clean
  • Leading discussions, music and movement, play, crafts, and kai time
  • Building relationships with whānau and contributing to a safe, welcoming environment
  • Ensuring session admin tasks are completed on time

  • Commencing 20 April 2026
  • This role is fixed term, aligned with the duration of our Space Programme, which concludes on 3 July 2026
  • We have 2 fixed-term positions available in North Canterbury as follows:
    • Woodend Playcentre
      • Wednesday - 8:30am - 4:00pm (includes 30-minute unpaid break)
    • Rangiora Playcentre
      • Wednesday - 8:30am - 4:00pm (includes 30-minute unpaid break)
  • There is also potential for additional fixed-term hours in East Christchurch as follows.
    • Burwood Playcentre or Shirley Playcentre
      • Tuesday or Thursday - 8:00pm - 4:00pm (includes 30-minute unpaid break)

About you:

You are reliable, work well with others, and feel confident supporting whānau in a group setting. This role offers a chance to build your experience, develop new skills, and make a positive impact on families' parenting journeys.

You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau to feel included and engaged
  • Confidence using technology to support learning and administration
  • Minimum Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification (L4 or above desired)
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
