Programme Assistant Driver - Supported Living Service

We would like to invite applications for the following 39 hour, permanent role.
Responsibilities- Support individual members to maximise their potential using a person centred approach.
- Assist members in all aspects of personal care and daily living as identified by them.
- Support participation in social activities outside the home as identified by the members.
- Support independent living skills training as identified by the person.
- Be a key worker and advocate for the members.
- Complete the normal range of duties associated with the upkeep of a residence.
- Ensure that work and interaction promotes and enhances the independent living capacity of the people using the service.
- Be available to work flexible hours, i.e. mornings, evenings, overnights.
- Implement the action planning and reporting systems within the parameters set by the Service Co ordinator.
- Actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of the service; record and report any incidents/accidents to the Service Co ordinator.
- Work in a confidential manner respecting people's right to privacy.
- Comply with IWA's Parent and Ancillary Safety Statements and any legislative duties set out in current Health and Safety and Fire Safety Legislation.
- Ensure responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm; adhere to IWA's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
- Carry out other duties and/or responsibilities which may be assigned from time to time.
- Record and report any hazards, accidents or potential incidents to the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
- Use clamping, hoisting and lifting equipment as an essential part of this role.
- Minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 (Major Award) Care Support or similar qualification is essential.
- Relevant QQI Major Awards: Community & Health Services (incl. minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Provision & Practice), Health Service Skills (incl. minor components in Workplace Statutory Policies & Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support), Health Care Support (incl. minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support).
- Category B Driving Licence is required.
- Advantage: willingness to undertake the Category D driving licence in the future.
- Strong computer and administration skills are an advantage.
- Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable.
- Understanding of the social model of disability and person centred planning is an advantage.
- Understanding of independent living is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a good level of spoken and written English.

This is a set roster that is implemented from the employee's start date and rolls on a 4 week basis. Week 1 may include days/splits; week 2 may include two long shifts and a weekend on; week 3 may include mornings or evenings; week 4 may include nights (waking or sleepovers).

Salary range for this position is €16.21 to €18.03 per hour (DOE).
