Job advertisement Closing date: 28.08.2025 At the Faculty of Theology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the Professorship for Systematic Theology with a Focus on Dogmatics is to be filled starting in the summer semester of 2027. The future holder of the position (f/m/d) should represent the field of Systematic Theology with a focus on Dogmatics in both research and teaching and should have a proven track record of engaging with contemporary issues through publications, conferences, or lectures. Our future colleague will cooperate in an interdisciplinary manner and contribute his or her knowledge to the dialogue with society. Academic excellence is expected, documented by high-quality publications, participation in international research collaborations or international visibility, successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding, and leadership skills. Desirable qualifications include the ability to engage in theologically reflective work on the phenomenon of religion and religious plurality. The ability and willingness to actively engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with research project within the Faculty, the University, and particularly within the LIBERTY profile line, is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the full range of topics in dogmatics and contemporary theological issues in pastoral and teaching degree programs, as well as in the faculty's and university's B.A./M.A. degree programs, some of which are taught in English. In order to be eligible for the position, candidates must have completed a doctorate and a habilitation or achieved equivalent academic qualifications (e.g., through a junior professorship) in the field of Systematic Theology with a focus on Dogmatics. In addition, candidates must demonstrate pedagogical aptitude and be a member of a Protestant church. Appointment as a professor will be a lifetime position as a civil servant, provided that the legal requirements are met. In the case of a first-time appointment to a professorship, the professorship shall initially be filled as a W2 professorship for a fixed term of six years. After a maximum of six years and subject to a positive tenure evaluation, appointment to a W3 professorship shall take place without the position being readvertised.
